#Day10-Day23 Noble Profession

Gambar
Teacher Becoming a teacher is my dream since I was in elementary school. Although, I want to be a doctor, but limited funds and my family economic is not enough, finally I decided to become a teacher. As a teacher student, I felt very lucky, because through lectures about teacher training I gained a lot of knowledge about children's psychology and their development’s stages. I think I have a little knowledge that can help me to become a mother, someday hahahaha. Being a teacher at Baguio City National High School for almost three weeks was truly an amazing experience. My teaching practice offers a thousand stories and new perspectives on teaching. I remember, when Ma’am Agacer, my Cooperating Teacher said , "Teaching is a noble profession, Zia." I interpret the words carefully. Yes, I know very well the reasons behind “ Teaching is a noble profession” Teacher determines the future of nation, the nation's children are entrusted to the figure

#Day9 An Excellent Observation

Gambar
Obersvation At 10-11, my first observation in 9th grade Excellence gave me a lot of experience. I can see how Ma’am Agacer as my Cooperating Teacher teaching and manage her classrooms. I wrote everything about that observation in my notebook, especially about learning techniques and strategies. I also noted the enthusiasm and participation of students in the class. By looking at the conditions and students’ participation in the class, I decided to teach more many time at 9th Grade Excellence. Apart from the fact that the classrooms are more conducive than other classes, students’ participation also better than the others. Even though they knew that I was an exchange student, they still treated me like a teacher. The first greeting they gave at that time really made me feel happy.

#Day8 Lesson Plan

Gambar
My lesson plans in Saint Louis University format  A guide in learning for students is a book, while a guide in teaching for teachers is a lesson plan. The lesson plan I made during my teaching practice here followed the system in Saint Louis University. At first I felt very frustrated because among the other exchange students, I was the only one who would start teaching the day after tomorrow. I am required to determine the Learning Objectives, Learning Assessment, Learning Procedure and learning strategies that I will use. Fortunately, many friends from SLU and also Zuchyne; they always help me. They often provide constructive suggestions and comments. Day by day, I know what I have to do with my lesson plans. The one I need; Zuchyne's Comments  Because I have schedule to teach everyday, I have to make lesson plan every night. It made me almost cry all the time. However, I believe in myself that I can do it. The more trained I am, the more able I am to

#Day7 Curriculum

Gambar
Curriculum in Philippines for 9th Grade One of the hardest things I have to do is that I have to teach chemistry. Basically, chemistry is part of science, and I'm crazy about science. However, since graduating from high school I have decided to pursue only one field, just physics. Previously, I had told CT and my SI that my majors is physics, not science (because, on my campus the faculty of science and the faculty of physics were different). However, my CT and SI have never stopped encouraging me to teach chemistry. Because of them, I'm confident to give myself a challenge. “Can I do it? Yes, I can.” Fortunately, my basic knowledge in chemistry wasn't too bad, coupled with the basic concepts of physics, it made me easier to explain chemical concepts. Because, in my opinion, physics is the fundamental of science. If we do not understand the fundamental of a science, it will be difficult for us to understand other sciences. I was required to teach Chemist

#Day6 Exercise

Gambar
So happy when I realize that Cordillera Hymn is so easy listening Let see Striving to build a brighter dawn For our children to call their own Cordillera, region of wonder hall Beloved land your name we shall not fall Honor and fame, to you we strive to bring Your glory won, we shall forever sing It was the piece of the song from the Cordillera Hymn that was sung by studentsf STELA Saint Louis University every Saturday morning at 7:30 on P700. Sayang, I didn't get to hear the Hymn from the start because I was late. Before their main activities begin, they will first sing the Cordillera Hymn. Then proceed with morning exercises instructed directly by MAPEH students. Very fun, even though on that day they were required to do a demonstration, but the exercise activities become vitamins and increase their enthusiasm for activities on Saturday. I think that routine meetings that begin with this kind of gymnastics can be a new alternative for my camp

#Day5 What!

Gambar
The major difference My first time attended class as an observatory was in grade 7. Even though I was actually teach in 9th grade, but I was so happy to join with my buddy, Zuchyne, to observe 7th grade. When I first entered the classroom, I was greeted with a very friendly welcome . Some of them looked at me questioningly. I was also greeted with a full question mark, how the class like this one filled by more than 35 students. I gape for a split second when I realize that there are so many students in one class. When I asked Zuchyne why this one could happen, it turned out that each class in Baguio City National High School could accommodate 50 until 55 students. A huge class "It is very gigantic. How the teacher manage the class? " I asked Zuchyne.   "Just see." she replied. Gigantic one I pay my close attention to how the teacher in front of me teaches and explains the concepts. Apparently I found a number of strategies that

#Day4 Library Tour

Gambar
BCNHS' Library Let see The library in Baguio City National High School (BCNHS) was my stopover for almost 23 days of the teaching practicum. Not only became a basecamp for prospective teachers, BCNHS’ library also became a place for us to prepare demonstrations and learning materials that we would convey or execute in the class. BCNHS also became a place intended for me to carry out My Dzuhur prayer. I feel very grateful, the tolerance of my friends when they know that I have to pray is precious and awesome. In fact they were very worried about whether it was alright if I had to pray in the library. "Yeah, that's okay. As long as I can pray, I will pray. " For a moment, I pondered how I as a minority still had the same rights and opportunities as the majority here. I was treated so well, the library staff behaved that way. I was free to choose a place so that my prayers would be “Khusyu” .   There was even a time when the library was filled with

#Day3 Neighbour

Gambar
And good  neighbours  make a huge difference in the quality of life Every time I introduce myself, I always say that, "... I come from Indonesia, exactly from South Borneo. It means that we are neighbours. " Although there are 1,750 km of distance separating Indonesia and the Philippines, I still want to convey how close the two countries are. In addition to being both part of Southeast Asia, Indonesia and the Philippines also have some things in common, especially in vocabulary. But, before I discuss some of the vocabulary in Tagalog that has the same sound and meaning with Bahasa (Indonesian Language). I will tell a little about the people perspective here when they first saw me. Most of them said that I had the appearance of a native servant here, so that not infrequently, they speak to me in Tagalog. This made me silent for a split second, then said sorry and asked them to speak in English. "I am so sorry, Po, actually I can't speak Tag

#Day2 78

Since I come out from the dorm and toward SLU, I decide to bring an umbrella wherever I go. By the way, the umbrellas that sell here is quite different with umbrellas in Indonesia. First, we have to press and hold on the tied to open it, and do the same thing for closed. When I have a chance to see people in Baguio, my first sight is to be like,  “Is it going to be a gigantic trouble If we don’t bring umbrella on our hand?” Perhaps bring an umbrella in Indonesia seems like odd, because during waiting the rain for stop, we can get shutter and playing with our smartphone to access internet and explore Instagram feeds or we can wait for “Umbrella delivery order” or Indonesians called it as “Ojek Payung”. But, In Baguio, there’s no reason for us to stop our steps even the rain cover the whole city. And here, I learn one important thing,  “time is money” Even though the heavy rain occur all day long, we are not allow to spend our time in bed and playing with our smartphone

#Day1 Market Tour

There was my first thing I've done when I arrived in Baguio City. Let see
